Position: Management Fellow (Temporary)
Compensation: $20.00 hourly
DEFINITION:
Recent college graduate working directly with executive leadership to analyze operations, manage projects, prepare reports, research, and administer administrative tasks to gain comprehensive experience in leadership and public service.
DURATION:
A 6-month fellowship with the potential to extend to 12 months based on performance. Fellows receive professional development support, and the program has a strong track record of participants successfully transitioning to their next role with enhanced skills and experience.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related fields.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Pass a successful background check.
2. Requires a valid Driver’s License.
3. Some working experience in a professional environment is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Effective listening, strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and social skills.
2. Ability to compile, organizes, prepare, and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.
3. Lead at least one special project based on fellow’s interest and community need.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
5. Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
6. Capable of working in a multi-tasking environment with the ability to provide constant attention to detail and meet tight deadlines.
7. Knowledge and ability to operate various standard and specialized office equipment and machinery.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attends meetings, seminars, webinars, and provide summary reports of information gathered.
2. Provides professional staff assistance to the City Manager’s Office on a wide variety of administrative and professional tasks.
3. Prepares reports, logs, forms and other documentation; maintains files and logs.
4. Creates/maintains positive public relations with the general public.
5. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
